Frequently asked questions

What is chargeable weight?

Usually the greater of actual gross weight and volumetric (dimensional) weight. That is what many carriers bill against.

Why do air and courier differ?

Air often uses a 6000 cm divisor; many express couriers use 5000 — which makes light, bulky parcels more expensive on courier.

How does sea work here?

For LCL planning we convert volume to CBM and apply ~1000 kg per CBM, then take the greater of that and actual kg. FCL is usually priced per container.

Should I measure outer dimensions?

Yes — carriers measure the outer package, often rounding up.
